Does the search feature work with the AJAX examples?

The search feature works with SmartXMLParsing mode. In case of dynamic loading, search functionality works only with data already fetched to client.

Smart XML Parsing is available only in the PRO package. If you have one, you can find the example here dhtmlxTree/samples/selection_sorting_navigation/pro_search.html
