is it not possible to use combo_filter in grid filtering and it matches the exact string?? (i.e. if values are lalit, lalit1, aalalit and i want to search exactly lalit ). is it not possible with combo_filter??

Please check if you have attached files:
"codebase/ext/dhtmlxgrid_filter.js" from the dhtmlxGrid package
"codebase/dhtmlxcombo.css", "codebase/dhtmlxcombo.js" from the dthmlxCombo package.
Note tha "combo_filter" is availible in PRO version only.
