"<" Grid Problem

if i tried to add a row into Grid and enter the value "<testing>" into 0'th field, value is not getting added into the grid.
the code that i was used in my application given below,
myGrid.cells(rowid,0).setValue("<testing>");

Please try to use "edtxt" or "rotxt" eXcell types
