We are having licensed version of dhtmlx Tree. Am I violating any licensing rules if I modify the code suggested by you?
If not I will go ahead and continue with the changes.

No, according to both licenses you're allowed to modify the source code.
However, all your modifications remain property of DHTMLX Ltd. (you are not obliged to send them to us, but you just need to agree, that the same changes can be used by us in any further versions of the component).
