grid._selectionArea CSS not displaying in IE8

When I take IE8 off of compatibility mode, the grid._selectionArea is not displaying the selection color. How do I get this to work IE8 in non-compatibility mode?

Which version of the grid you are using?
The issue can't be reconstructed for latest version of grid 2.5
