jQuery is common purpose library, which provides base set of functionality for operation with DOM, events, AJAX and similar. It allows to manipulate with existing HTML page in pretty easy way, but there is no ready to use rich widgets for it.

Both dhtmlxX and extJs are widgets libraries, they use different approaches but suits for similar goals -  allows to implement rich inerface in browser. The main difference between libraries in features supported by each widget. While extJs is more abstract oriented, dhtmlx provides more problem oriented solution ( big datasets, specialized views, server side integration )
