Locking dhtmlXgrid

We would like to disable the Grid at certain times such that it appears disabled as well as does not resond to mouse clicks, etc. We are able to disable the <div> the grid is in, but that only produces a visual change. The user is still able to select items in the Grid. Is there something similar to the dhtmlXtree's lockTree() function for the Grid?

There is no such ready to use functionality, but it pretty easy to add one by using HTML cover
